Skip navigation to main content. The charge controller monitors the electricity coming into the house from the PV panels and appropriately charges the batteries. This is necessary to prevent over-charging or under-charging the batteries, which can shorten their life.
The charge controller monitors the battery voltages, currents and temperature to make charging adjustments. It has no moving parts, and thus, requires no maintenance.
The LEAFHouse will feature 3 OutBack Power Systems MX60 charge controllers. Each MX60 is rated for 60 amps of DC output current and can be used with battery systems ranging from 12 to 60 volts.
